Angry Why the heck is it so hard to get a Guild Hall?

I think every guild should be able to have a guild hall more easier. Put capes to say 500 Gold and Guild halls to 3K or make it so that Guild Halls are free because there are never sigils at the traders and it's pretty much impossible to beat the Hall of Gods or whatever its called.

Because they don't want absolutley everone to get a guild straight away.

And if you think about it, money in this game is fairly easy to aquire.

Seems pointless to offer what is essentially a useless upgrade to just everyone who wants off hand. Getting a Guild Hall is sort of a sign that your guild doesn't suck, I remember a few people complaining about having to purchase guild cloaks back in DaoC, or the Tabards in WoW, and while they spent their time doing so, the rest of us farmed for like 1/20th the money and scrapped it together.

I could potentially do the same to do so here, even 1/10th of some costs.

If is is so useless, why does everyone want one?

Your tactic of pooling money is the method most people use to get Guild items. Most good guilds will be able to coordinate an effort to get a certain amount of gold from each member. If you think about it, this is a good, inherent method of weeding out the poor Guilds who do not possess this teamwork.

And I could swear the Celestial Sigil attainable by PvP victories was meant to do that.

I agree Slade, to me if you have a good starting crew that is willing to go out and bust there hind ends to get the cash or get the sigil in the Tombs that means teamwork and willingness to work for the Guild. We had to buy one at 20,000, we won a couple times at the Tombs, but we are a new guild and just getting some of our major skills...but we are getting better and better!!
With the pooling of players money, we made our goal..that ment no sweet armor for a while, and other things we would have LIKED to have, we put our money to the Guild and that showed me that we have a awsome core group of players that care about the Guild and not just themselves....and that means alot in my eyes...

They should raise prices for guilds to say 2k and capes to 10k, why you ask? So there are less guilds full with newbies. Guild halls will probably become higher in price, if you ask me.

I created my guild, the Read or Die Stooge Forum [RoD], so that my friends and I could be affiliated as we played the game. Our CS tag is also <RoD>. When we get serious, we'll pool for the other things, but for now, we're just a group of friends who want to have fun.

There are probably others who want a guild just to unite friends. I don't believe raising the cost of creating a guild will decrease the noob problem. On the contrary, noobs will be more desperate to join guilds since they can't afford them.

The prices are fine where they are.

This mentality is exactly what is wrong in game

Suck, doesn't suck. Loser, non-loser. It is sad to me how people take a concept, like PVP, so very seriously. What happened to just being competitive, or playing the GAME. No, it always comes to this: Who sucks and who does not. Shameful

Getting a guild hall is not the problem for me, it's GETTING to the place that offers them LOL

I liked the old system, where you only could create Guilds in Lions Arch and not earlier. I think that would close about 90% of all Guilds.

So not everyone that just started playing makes his own guild, just cause everyone can.

How much does a Celestial Sigil cost anyways? I want to know because my Guild is saving for the cape, and I just want to see how much more we have to get.

Time will get rid of the so called "newbie" guilds better than anything else.

Right now you have to either buy the Celestial Sigil from another player or earn one by taking the hall of heroes in the tombs. Trading prices vary, but they seem to be increasing steadily. I bought mine a few days ago for 30k, but I've seen them for as low as 15-20k or as high as 50k.

But to address the original subject:

It's really not very hard to get a guild hall right now, I personally just pooled my gold with that of 2 or 3 of my guild mates. This system is nice because it sets goals for guilds to attain. Without goals these games become boring, and that's exactly what the developers try to avoid when designing an mmorpg or similar game.

dude...i think you are playing the wrong game.....take a moment and rifle through the piles of crap on your desk ....when you find the cover box for this game.....READ IT....the game is called "GUILD WARS".....I dont think that it would be real bright to make it so only unemployed attitude problems and kids with no life can form a guild....in fact i think that they have it just about right thus far.....getting a guild sigil at this point can be accomplished by good teamwork or cooperation with guild mates to gather the money.....isnt that what this game promised in the beginning?

a game that rewards GOOD play.

Didnt see anywhere an advertisement saying that "In Guild Wars we plan to cater to only the people who can afford to log 500 hours of play in the first 14 days after release."

/agree

WTF do u people care if others create guilds anyway, sheesh. Suck it l33ter's this game is about eliminating all your stupid timesink's and prerequisites. Just because you have no life or job no longer makes you the best. Me and my friends who have jobs and can only play a few hours a day have a guild and rare items too, HAHAHAHA!!

Guildhall is easy to get, just buy the Sigil from people if you have the money, ingame or outgame

I almost had the money to buy the sigil myself at lvl 20 but i spent most of i getting stuff for my armor because we plan on trying the HoH. In our 1st try we made it to the HoH but then some of the higher ranked guilds like VAN and n0 (even though n0 isn't ranked i dont think) killed us. ><

I raised the money for the Sigil on my own. Took me about a week. The prices are fine.

The key to making any guild successful is disposable income. I have money I don't use, so I use it for guild things. I donate prizes to Voices of Ascalon (like the Black Dye that added 10 new listeners :P) or get crafting items for people who need them. More people join a friendly guild, then just ask for 500 gold or so from everyone and you can easily get the money for a Sigil.

it's hard to get a guild hall in order to make it special and actually mean something. if every nooblet and their grandmother had their own guildhall, then it would mean nothing.
